This Afternoon's Pictures

What's on my porch?

I think it's a bat.

What's he doing?

I think he's eating.

The little fellow flew away when my neighbors came home.

Hawk Springs

Went camping last weekend in Hawk Springs, Wyoming with my brother and his friend's clan. This was the view waking up on Sunday morning.

I won every handstand contest!

Against 11 year-old, little girls.

Invisible

I keep reading more and more about invisibility cloaks. I've seen a couple of still pictures that look neat, but hard to know for sure how effective they are. But, whoa!, check out these videos. The second one is particularly impressive. Now these might not really allow you to sneak by Professor Snape in close proximity in the hallways, but I imagine that for nightime urban warfare operations they might be particularly useful. It's surprisingly close to the invisibility effect in Halo where you can just barely sense someone is there when they are moving. Very cool. Someday my kids will be able to sneak into the women's locker room and watch the girls shower completely undetected. You know, when we were kids, if we wanted to see women shower, we had to drill holes through the wall. Ahhh, progress.
